Impassive consecration

December 8, 2004

Most of my drawings are purely automatic, but some stray into the occult as well. This is one such. Usually I become aware of something happening halfway through a drawing, something drifts by and latches onto the chance to be born into art. Its presence is that of an entity, intense but short-lived, existing in full force in a held breath. It enters the penstroke on exhalation. Drawing is a way for it to show itself to me, a way to understand it without ever being able to get close enough to truly understand it. Such influences are from experience recognisably demonic, but I hesitate to define it any more than that. It is indeed an impassive consecration.
